Noizemaschin!! and the Perth Artifactory offer resident artist memberships and student scholarships
The Artifactory is the largest makers space currently nestled in an industrial area 10 minutes northwest of Perth city. They are equiped with all sorts of great machinery, like CNC lazer cutters, 3D printers, Drill presses, a CNC router, outdoor spray benches, a small metal lathe, welders and a range of hand tools. During my time as resident artist i developed my "Chimeaphone," as i call it, which is an instrument made from galvonised steel pipes and a wooden frame. The idea was to make a series of windchimes and set them up much like a xylaphone or vibraphone.
The Perth Artifactory offers scholarships to art students who are interested in going and making something creative. They even offer lessons to learn how to use some of the machines. For me it was an opportunity to touch base again with the skills i accumulated as a tradesperson.
